I am so excited by a website - http://www.shapeofamother.blogspot.com/ - that I found this morning after reading an article in the Guardian. It is a collection of pictures and stories by women about their pregnancy and post-pregnancy bodies; stretch marks, saggy skin and all. The stories vary in their focus, but many women talk about the mixed feelings they have for their bodies: the sense of shame ('is it just me?'), of embarrassment ('gotta keep this covered up"), but also of a deep sense of pride ("I grew my children in there!").
Congrats to the lady who set up the site. Congrats also to the women who have shared their bodies with the world - a world, let's not forget, that seemed jolly proud of itself a month or two ago for 'accepting' a near-flawless image of a three-and-a-half-minute pregnant Britney Spears - like that was a realistic image of pregancy. This is what it's really about.
