Q on Screen (Not)

Had a weird interview this morning with an FM radio station in Chicago, kept asking me what actresses should play Q if Bed Rest became a movie.... chance would be a fine thing, I said, and then; well, someone normal-looking. Bed Rest is all about the feelings that ordinary people have; I wouldn't want some stick insect playing my heroine...

And you know, I don't think many Hollywood actresses are willing to be pregnant for 2 hours on screen, wolfing cookies and inspecting stretch marks. How many movies can you think of where the leading lady is pregnant?

Puttering

What am I doing with my days? Well, keeping my two babies inside me for as long as I possibly can, posting on www.bedrestdiary.com, tinkering with Sleepless Nights, and re-reading The Picture of Dorian Gray. I'd forgotten a) how compelling it is and b) how over-written it is. Rather too much about lilacs, jade, and sweet-smelling unguents for my taste (yes, yes, I know about aestheticism, but still). A friend suggested I turn to Walter Scott next, an author I've never been able to get on with. At least the references to lilacs should be minimal.

What's Up with Me

Sorry for not posting; I've been a bit out of the loop this week, following the discovery that I have some risk factors for preterm delivery. Don't think I don't see the irony of the fact that, as the author of Bed Rest, I'm back in the world of hospitals and tests....
